First of all Arran has, for centuries, provided the ideal family seaside holiday where the whole family can enjoy the simple pleasures of being together. Leave the pc and mobile at home, here is one of the few places in the World where pure family time is possible, day in and day out.
The same for couples and groups, for sheer peace and quiet relaxation there is nowhere to touch it. “Heaven on Earth” is the usual description.

Walking, cycling, golf, swimming, fishing, beach, rock pools, nature, picnics, barbecues, all the things that haven’t changed in a hundred years. Camping or caravanning at Lochranza provides the perfect base and setting for all ages.

Then, of course, you have the anticipation. Perhaps it is some months before you will actually set off on your holiday travels. This will give you time to search the Internet for information about all that Arran has to offer. Everything about Arran is to be found on the Internet, there are thousands of web sites and links to tell you everything you could possibly want to know. Some basic information for now is that the island is 11 miles across the middle, 20 miles from top to bottom, and 56 miles all the way around the coast road. It has long been described as “Scotland in miniature” arising from its lowland agricultural landscape in the south, the collection of populated villages in the middle, and the more rugged and mountainous terrain in the north. Scenically it has everything from soft pastoral to harsh volcanic and, of course, there is a wonderful variety of wildlife to be seen around every corner as well as above and on the sea and shores. The resident population fluctuates around 5,000. There are all sorts of activities for the visitor to enjoy including some of the best hill walking in Europe and no less than SEVEN delightful little golf courses where everyone is welcome.
